Simon Laurent has specialised in immigration work since 1996, with a special interest in refugees. He is a past Chairman of the New Zealand Association for Migration and Investment (NZAMI). He was a founding member of the Auckland District Law Society Immigration & Refugee Committee (Convenor for 2006 and 2007). He has been involved in dialogue with Immigration New Zealand over the application of law and Policy, and has prepared Select Committee submissions on the new Immigration Act passed in 2009, as well as the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007.
